Golf Driving Fundamentals
A good golf drive can set up a good score on a hole and this is an important part of the game. Today's golf drivers have never been easier to hit so it gives all handicappers a chance to experience hitting the golf ball a long way off the tee.
Driver Tempo
It's easy to try to hit a driver too hard and with a faster tempo. Try to keep the same tempo for driving as you have a for an iron shot. If you hit the ball out of the centre of the driver then you will get the required result so try to concentrate on consistency of strike rather than trying to hit the ball hard.
Think about your tee shot too. How far do you have to hit it is a good question to start with? If you don't need to use a driver then use a 3 wood as this will give you more accurate results in the long run. If it's a tight fairway and you don't need distance then also consider a 3 wood or even a 5 wood. Some golf players also can use a hybrid golf club off the tee with great results.
Common Mistakes
Finally, a common mistake can be teeing the ball too high. With a golf driver try to ensure that just half the golf ball is above the club head when it's on the ground. With a 3 or a 5 wood then just tee it up slightly off the ground so that you can ensure a good lie but don't go too high as these lofted woods will hit the ball high anyway.
