The Majors
Open Championship

Often referred to as the British Open, the Open Championship is the oldest of the four major golf championships. Hosted by the R&A, the Open Championship is always played on a links course at various locations in the UK on the weekend of the 3rd Friday of July. With a field of 156 golf players this is the richest of the four majors tournaments.
The Masters

The first held mens major golf tournament of four championships held every year at Augusta National Golf Club. Hosted as an invitational golf tournament, the final round of the Masters each year is scheduled for the second Sunday in April. In line with the other majors, winning the Masters gives a golfer several privileges which makes his career more secure. Masters champions are automatically invited to play the other three majors for the next five years, and earn a lifetime invitation to the Masters.
US Open

This annual mens golf tournament is hosted each June at various locations in the USA by the United States Golf Association (USGA). Being an 'open' it is open to any professional or amateur with an up to date USGA handicap index not exceeding 1.4. With a field of 156 golf players, the US Open offers the winning champion several privileges that make their career more secure. US Open Champions are automatically invited to play the other three majors for the next five years, are exempt from qualifying for the US Open itself for the next ten years, and earn membership on the PGA Tour for the following five seasons and invitations to The Players Championships for five years.

Annually, the last of the four major golf tournaments held at various locations around the USA, the PGA Championship is hosted in August by the Professional Golfers Association of America as part of the PGA Tour.
