Golf Tips & Instructions
Iron Fundamentals
Full golf shots with your golf irons should be all of the same type of swing and tempo. If you hit a 9 iron or a 4 iron the swing should be the same. This is very important and this must be the case if you want to consistently hit the ball with the centre of the club face. Some players have a fast tempo and some have a slow tempo. There is no right or wrong tempo, so you must go with what you have but just try to keep it the same for each shot.
Golf Ball Position
The ball position in relation to your feet can be varied or it can be the same. Some players prefer to have the golf ball in the centre of their stance for iron shots. Otherwise some players move the ball back in their stance towards their right foot for shorter irons and then forward towards the left foot for longer irons. Just experiment with what works for you but generally the golf ball in the centre can be a good idea for consistency.

Finally, irons are for accuracy not about distance. Don't worry about how far you hit an iron, it's much more important to hit each iron a consistent distance rather than a long distance. Learn how far you hit each iron and try to do this the same all of the time so that you can hit the ball into greens with confidence.
