Golf Bags Buying Guide

Golf bags, today, are packed with features and very durable. There are four types of golf bags available. These are tour bags, stand bags, trolley (or cart) bags and pencil (or Sunday) bags.

The main recommendation is to go for a stand bag if you are going to carry your bag or if you wish to use a push or electric trolley then go for a trolley bag. The other two bags are more specialist but a full description of each type follows.

Stand Bags

It's a bit of a giveaway, I know, but stand bags come with a stand. When you put the golf bag down the stand pops out easily so that you can rest your bag down with no effort. These types of bags are typically much lighter than trolley bags as you will be carrying them around the course. Most stand bags will feature a dual, rucksack style strap which allows you to balance the weight of your clubs across both shoulders, making carrying your clubs simple and comfortable.

Virtually all stand bags will carry a full set of golf clubs with ease and there will be further pockets for balls, tees, gloves and outerwear (maybe a waterproof suit). Look out for other useful features such as a bottle holder, a valuables pocket and an umbrella holder. Finally, they should also have a top cover to put around and over your clubs in wet weather.

Look for: a light bag, dual strap and enough pockets for what you want but you may have to compromise slightly here.

Trolley or Cart Bags

This type of golf bag has the stand left off to allow it to sit on a trolley easier. Trolley bags are orientated so that you can access your golfing equipment easily when the bag is on the trolley. As you will be pulling the cart or using an electric trolley, manufacturers have made this type of bag bigger and more durable. Along with stand bags, they will easily hold a full set of clubs but they will typically have more pocket space as well as all the features on stand bags.

Look for: fits on your trolley easily, front orientation of pockets for easy access and maximum space.

Tour Bags

These golf bags are used on tour by golf professionals and they are the largest golf bag available. They are designed to be carried and they hold everything you will every need during a round of golf. They are superb pieces of equipment but, be warned, they are very heavy. Remember, there is one big difference between you and a golf professional - you're probably the one who's going to be carrying it! But for any Arnie's out there they could be worth a look.

Pencil Bags

These are small and surprisingly good golf bags for carrying a half set or a few clubs when you want to play 5 or 6 holes on a Sunday afternoon. They don't have a stand, typically, and they won't carry much stuff beyond a few clubs but they are very lightweight and do the job they are designed for well.

Women's Golf Bags

When it comes to choosing a ladies golf bag there is often much more to the design than initially meets the eye. There are many aspects of Women's Golf Bags which have been specifically tailored in order to comfortably suit the different physical build and practical demands of the female player. Considering the amount of time you will be spending with your golf bag, you should never underestimate the importance of purchasing a model which meets your own high standards.

Feminine Golf Trolley Bags

Perhaps the most obvious point to consider is how you intend to carry your clubs and accessories around the course with you. Golf bags can be heavy, bulky and generally uncomfortable to haul around the course - unless you want to give your arms a bit more muscle! Many female golfers prefer to use Trolley or Cart bags. This type of carrier is extremely convenient and will ensure that you avoid all the physical exertion that you can expect from a standard carry bag.

Featuring the same great design, numerous pockets and easy club access as stand bags; trolley bags can be used with your existing cart or you can treat yourself to a brand new one. With compact folding trolley designs, you can pack your clubs into the boot of the car with a minimum of fuss - particularly if the weather hasn't been kind during the round and your golf equipment is muddy and wet.

Women's Golf Stand Bags

Women's Golf stand bags are an extremely popular choice thanks to their lightweight and comfortable carrying options. As the name suggests, this type of golf bag is equipped with a stand which folds out to support the bag when you rest it on the ground. This simple, yet highly effective feature provides excellent access to your golf clubs and requires very little effort from the user. Ladies Stand Bags often feature a multitude of carrying options, combining comfort with practicality. Dual carry straps are made using super soft materials and thick padding, and can be worn over both shoulders in much the same way as you would carry a backpack. You can also enjoy the luxury of having lots of different pockets with enough room for all of your essential items, golf related or not!

Lightweight Ladies Golf Bags

If you are playing a short, casual round of golf then you may prefer to carry a pencil golf bag. These compact golf club carriers have enough space for a decent selection of your most important clubs. Lightweight and featuring the bare minimum in terms of additional pockets, storage space and carry straps; ladies pencil golf bags are a great way of travelling light and avoiding sore shoulders at the end of the round!

While numerous pockets, accessories and carry options are all important features to consider, attractive feminine styling is also an important factor when it come to finding your dream ladies golf bag. Modern women's golf bags are expertly styled and available in a range of beautiful colours so you won't end up compromising your immaculate image on the golf course.
