Golf Footwear Buying Guide

The technology in golf shoes today is spectacular and, due to intense competition in the market place, the pace of improvement is growing. The good news for consumers is that there are very few (if any) bad golf shoes on the market.
It's difficult to recommend an exact type of shoe for each person but you must bear in mind that during a round of golf you are going to be walking a long way so investing as much as you can in shoes will pay dividends.
Fitting Golf Shoes
General advice would be to ensure that the shoes fit well. They should not be too big or too small otherwise you will be crippled after a few holes. The golf shoe should match up to your normal shoe size these days and there is no need to go a "half size bigger" for the extra thick socks.
Your golf shoes will probably have soft spikes on the sole. These grip as well as metal spikes and are friendlier to greens. Most golf courses will insist on soft spikes.
Waterproof Golf Shoes
The other main consideration is that you will need a waterproof shoe. Unless you are playing a few rounds in the summer, you will likely encounter rain or dew in the ground. Most golf shoes are waterproof and will be guaranteed for at least 1 year so look out for this.
So have a look, stretch your budget to the max and you'll be surprised how comfortable and durable today's golf shoes can be.
